Installation: Famous 5-minute install
Unzip the package in an empty directory and upload everything.
Open wp-admin/install.php in your browser. It will take you through the process to set up a wp-config.php file with your database connection details.

The install.php is in the directory “wordpress/wp-admin/”

Once you unzip the downloaded WP package (4.4.1), upload it the wordpress directory to your webroot, then open your browser and goto:

your_server/wp-admin/install.php for easy installation of WordPress (famous 5-minute …)

all this assuming that you already have web-srver, DB-server, PHP installed on the server/computer where you’re installing WordPress!

Perhaps you should re-read my post b4 responding.

I even posted part of the welcome msg page which shows a CLEAR LINK to install.php.

I’m not some dumb noob.

When I say the file is not there it is not there.

Do you know what a 404 error is?

It means the page was not found on the server.

But I digress.

I have already downloaded and installed an earlier version……and guess what…….. install.php was IN THAT ZIP FILE………….

From looking at your screenshot, it seems like something is very wrong with WinZip.

When you download WordPress 4.4.1 from https://www.ads-software.com/download/ and properly expand the .zip, the new “wordpress” folder it creates will be structured like this: https://core.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/tags/4.4.1/src

Inside is a folder called “wp-admin” and inside that is a file called “install.php”

I just doubled checked this myself from the .zip at https://www.ads-software.com/download/ and it is expanding fine for me, so I suspect an issue with WinZip. Screenshot of expanded .zip: https://d.pr/i/1ikJj/yw03QrAk

There is nothing wrong with WinZip……..it lists every file alphabetically……REGARDLESS of which folder it is in.

I have just downloaded 4.4.1 from THIS PAGE and lo and behold now install.php is there

Interesting to note that the previous 4.4.1 I downloaded from THIS PAGE has a size of 6880KB and the one I just now downloaded has a size of 7545KB…..

SO, my guess is due to my post whoever takes care of the downloads corrected whatever problem there was

Ok then. Seems like a lot of folks would have had a problem if that were the case: https://www.ads-software.com/download/counter/ but maybe there was something wrong with just your download.
