Misaligned on some images

For small, left-aligned images, on a wide page with no side-bar, and without a link (only the span class), the widgets do not align properly. Instead, they bounce over to the right edge of the page. Why is that and how can I fix it? See the example here (hover over the Universal logo graphic with Firefox):
