Missed schedule on random posts

    Since Friday morning my website (www.drunkenwerewolf.com) has experienced random missed schedule posts.

    I can’t see any rhyme nor reason to which posts miss their schedule: eg I scheduled a post midday on Friday which posted fine this morning, but a post scheduled by another user on Sunday for midday today has just missed its schedule. I also made no amendments to the site on Friday, though earlier that week I did have to update my database when prompted by WordPress.

    I had thought this was related to me making amendments to the website – every now and again, I do experience a missed schedule if I’m active on the dashboard when the post is supposed to go live. However this is very infrequent, and the past two missed schedule posts have happened when I’ve not been logged in.

    Most frustrating of all, I have the WordPress Missed Schedule plugin already installed.

    Any clue what’s happening and is this happening to anyone else?

  • I just started having this issue as well starting the end of last week. Prior I only ever had the problem maybe once or twice in the years I’ve been using WordPress. I also have my cron setup as a normal cron and not using the native wp_cron, so I know it’s firing off and should have posted just fine.

    Last week was WP v4.2.3 and I can’t help but wonder if that’s the cause.

    This seemed to fix itself but with the recent update to 4.3 it’s come back. Any ideas?

    PS anyone experiencing the problem can download the WP Missed Schedule plugin which will republish missed schedule posts within 10 minutes, but I’d still like to find a solution – often my posts are timed to meet campaigns elsewhere, and clients get iffy if the post isn’t there for them to see at a particular time.
