Missed scheduled posts

    Hi,

    We have an installation of WordPress 3.1.1 running on IIS7 and have recently been receiving warnings in regard to scheduled posts being missed.

    Having Googled the issue extensively, I haven’t yet come across a satisfactory explanation for this. It seems that very few people understand the process here and thus most of the workarounds suggested online seem to be based on guesswork. I’d very much appreciate it if someone with a firm grasp of how this works might be able to point out what’s going wrong here.

    As I understand things so far, it seems as though the wp-cron.php code is run on each visit to the blog and thus any scheduled post should be published on the next visit to the site after the specified publish date (please do correct me if my assumption here is incorrect).
