So I I go to domain.com/wp-admin then hit updates. Thats how I update plugins, themes and core.

I updated 67 domains, all separate from each other, no relation, to WordPress 4.7
When 2015 came, I deleted all other 201x, when 2016 came, I deleted 2015 and so forth. I always keep a 201x theme as backup if I use another theme.

None of the 67 domains had 2017 when I updated them to 4.7.

I thought the update would come with 2017.

I had to go to the appearance, add theme, 2017.

or am I going crazy and only fresh downloads get 2017?

Twenty Seventeen is not part of the update package, but you can quickly add it by searching for “Twenty Seventeen” at Appearance > Themes > Add New in your site’s Dashboard.

    Hi,

Currently only fresh installs include the Twenty Seventeen theme by default, but it will more than likely be included for existing sites as well with the next update.

out of curiosity, why is it not included in updates? shouldn’t default themes be included in the updates? why only for fresh installs?

yeah i know I can get the way James Huff mentioned.

It was supposed to be in the updates this time, and was working that way in the betas. Looks like something broke somewhere along the way.
