Missing authors in product editing admin

We have a storefront child theme, in which i have set up products to be able to have authors.
We have a large store with many sellers [set up as authors].I have now noticed that when in the dropdown authors list, I no longer have all of my authors, but it is now showing only administrators users.
The products that are already linked to a specific author have only that author in their dropdown options, with the administrator users.We’ve made no change in the theme or settings, so not sure where this is coming from.
Can anyone point us in the right direction?
