I just upgraded from 1.5.1 to 2.6 (and later today 2.6.1) and while I have the category spots, none have their name associated with them, they are all blank. Any ideas on how to fix this? I can’t seem to edit them in the “Manage/Category” section. Just delete.

The wp_categories field is not in my DB anymore. But my db export file is too big to reinstall… Does anyone have a strong DB (mySQL) background that can give me the command line to extra the structure of that field and the content and import into the DB?

    Thanks,

    Don

I’m also interested in this because I have the exact problem. I’ve added new category fields and they show up, but there is a space holder for the old ones with the name and my older posts have no categories.

I upgraded from 2.04 to 2.6 and then to 2.61.

I’m using the Palam 1.0 theme if that makes any difference.

    Desertdiva,

The only way I could cleanly fix it (and I’m still trying to remember what the categories where) was to go into the DB and edit each wp_terms that was blank. I then went back to Manage/Categories and checked each to see if it was right. Took a little bit of time, but it fixed my issues. Luckily I only have 10 categories!!

    Good luck!!

    Don
