I have a client website and all of a sudden in the last week or so, on the dashboard all Event Manager menu items in the left menu other than “Settings” and “Help” are gone. The website visitor can still see the events that have been created, so I know that the data is still there and the plugin still works (mostly), but the black toolbar at the top of the screen no longer has the option to “Edit this event” when you’re on the public page of the event, and the dashboard is missing all major menu items — Add New, Locations, Bookings, and Categories.

We are using the latest version of the plugin (I re-installed the plugin just now, to no avail), the latest version of WordPress, and PHP7.2 (we did have it on 7.1, and upgrading to 7.2 did not fix the problem). I have deactivated all non-essential plugins and it has no impact on the problem. We are using the Avada theme.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

One addition: I disabled *every* plugin except for WooCommerce (sorry, I can’t take down my client’s store), and no change, nada.

Have you checked you plugins folder using an FTP or File manager? You might have accidentally moved/renamed the plugins?

You could also try and go to your FTP/File Manager and Delete the EM plugin there and extract the new/fresh copy. (Note Deete the files manually using File Manager/FTP not pressing delete on plugins backend)

I would recommend doing a Site backup and Database backup before doing anything.

Yes, I have already done these steps. I first re-named the Events Manager plugin folder in /plugins/ (via FTP) to append “-old” to the folder name. I uploaded a clean, brand-new copy of the plugin to the /plugin/ folder and deleted the “-old” copy, all via FTP. None of this did anything to bring back the menu items, unfortunately.

YAY! I found someone else in this list of support posts with the answer to the problem:
    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/front-end-events-page-not-displaying-list-of-events/

For anyone else searching for the solution:

Go to Event Manager / Settings / General / User Capabilities, and click all of the boxes that correspond to “Administrator” (or whatever user role you need). I think in some software update that these either became a new thing, or somehow all got reset to not-checked.

Thank you very much for sharing this solution.
