This means either your user account or your WordPress installation doesn’t have permission to edit files, and this prevents you from being able to create or edit PHP cron events.

Take a look through the FAQ for all the details, there’s several answers there with all the information.

P.S. I’m going to make this clearer in the next version of WP Crontrol because you’re not the first person to ask about this.

    Hi,

    Wheres the FAQ’s?

    Thanks

?For others that may have the same problem:

My issue was that my security plugin had disallowed file editing, which as a result hid that “PHP cron event” option selection in WP Crontrol. I had to uncheck “Disable File Editor” in iThemes Security. ?
