    Hello,

We are experiencing difficulties with pictures when sharing posts on Facebook. Following are examples of sharing posts:

    1) This one works perfectly fine – only showing my featured image:
    https://dvl.dk/vandreture/agersted-bakker/
og:image is also beeing set automaticly by Yoast Seo plugin.

    2) These ones works but showing 2 images = logo + featured image (og:image):
    https://dvl.dk/vandreture/rubjerg-2/
    https://dvl.dk/vandreture/slotved-skov/
og:image is not beeing set automaticly by Yoast Seo plugin. (why?)

    3) If featured image is small it doesn’t show at all

If trying to upload a picture to Yoast plugin for Facebook it doesn’t overrule. This could be cache but we have tried to clear cache within the website and through the facebook debug tool, nothing seems to make a change.

Can you shed some light on this issue we are having?
espacially, (1) and (2), where they should behave the same.

This URL https://dvl.dk/vandreture/slotved-skov/ is giving us a 404 error.

We see you are using an outdated version of the Yoast SEO plugin. Please update to v8.3, which is the latest version, and then refer to this article for more information — https://kb.yoast.com/kb/facebook-sharing-updated-details/

    Thank you for your answer.
We updated to latest version, but there is still some posts where a featured image is set, and – as far as i can see – they meet the requirements – but Yoast is using the fallback image defined in settings, instead of the featured image.

I have found the following to posts where the og:image tag is set to the fallback image, instead of the featured image.

    Hi Jesper,

Thanks for following up. If you do not select an image for Facebook, the featured image should be used by default. We did notice that the og:image does not match the featured image.

Can you confirm that an image has not been set for Facebook on that post? If not, please also try to select the Facebook image to be the same as the featured image. Does the og:image update accordingly?

We are looking forward to hearing from you.

    Hello MariusG

    Thanks for the input.

I can confirm that, there is no image set, for facebook (or twitter) on that post
    see screenshot.

When setting facebook to use the same image, as featured, the og:image does not update. – even when clearing cache.

It sounds like it might be a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.

If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
