• The following started happening recently.
    As stated in the topic, whenever I set a featured image for the post, it is not displayed in Single Post view if the post Format is set to “Gallery”. It is displayed properly as a thumbnail. Also, setting Format to “Standard” properly displays this image.
    This is not an option for me however, as I intend to display multiple images inside flexslider and “Standard” format does not enable this feature. In “Gallery” mode the slideshow does not appear as it should in place of Featured Image.

    What’s more, in “Gallery” post Format, if I added any image into the body of the post, it was used as Featured Image no matter if this was actually set or not in the post settings.

    Examples of how I was using “Gallery” posts when they were working correctly:
    – for multiple pictures within post (Featured image + “add media”): https://august.net.pl/vaal-hazak-commission-wip/
    – for a single picture within the post (featured image and nothing else added): https://august.net.pl/happy-raven/

    Thank you for your time!

    Hi @randgrid,

    This is copied from a different topic:

    The logic for displaying a slideshow in the theme is a pretty straightforward check whether the post format is “gallery” – if not, the post thumbnail is displayed.

    The reason for why some of your gallery posts display a slideshow and some don’t is because Hitchcock includes all images uploaded to each post in that posts gallery. So if you create a new post, set it to gallery, open the “Add Media” modal and upload four pictures to it, those four pictures will become attached to that post and displayed in the slideshow. If you only upload a single picture to it, only one image is attached to the post, and the image will be displayed without a slideshow.

    It’s a convoluted (and very flawed) workaround to WordPress themes not being allowed to store content in custom post meta fields.

    This method has been the same since Hitchcock was released, so nothing should have changed (as far I can see, those template files haven’t been changed since December 2018).

    I am clueless then since I just updated the theme yesterday and posts are like this now:
    https://august.net.pl/test/
    https://august.net.pl/test-with-multiple-pictures/

    I made these exactly the same way as ones in the original post ._.

    Hi @randgrid,

    I tested the latest version of the theme on my local environment just now, and both featured images and gallery images work as described in the block quote in my previous reply. The two most recent updates (1.25 and 1.24) only changed style sheets and the icon fonts, so the behavior of the gallery format hasn’t changed.

    I’m an artist, not the developer so I can’t really tell if something was changed or not ._.
    I’m only telling what I see – since that update I can’t make posts the way I used to, they do not include art I try to post.
    No matter if I’m making regular or gallery post, no matter if I’m adding them as media, or featured image – they still don’t show up.
    I wouldn’t bother you if it weren’t a core feature for me.

    Furthermore, I just updated to 2.0 and more aspects aren’t the way they used to be:

    – Show load more posts button appears above and behind posts on the front page, clicking it does nothing and it just disappears;
    – There are two weird bullets under each featured picture (I’m talking about old posts, where I still had art uploaded);
    – And these featured pictures repeat themselves horizontally in the post until full width is reached

    Honestly, I don’t know what to do, I’ll probably have to change to some basic theme and make it work with 450 posts I have made ._.

    [no hard feelings towards you, I do hope I did not insult you, it wasn’t my intention. I just need a running page]

    Hi @randgrid,

    It seems some style issues snuck in with version 2.0.0. Version 2.0.1 should fix the issues you were having with the Jetpack Inifinite Scroll load button and the gallery format styles.

    I’m not sure why the gallery slideshow itself doesn’t work, though. Are you running a caching plugin on the site? If you are, try emptying the cache and check if that fixes the problem.

    Thank you for your time and fast action – the update fixed the issues which appeared with 2.0 version ?

    But my JetPack got broken and gives Api404Error, which I’ll need to google in the morning.

    I cleared cache using W3 Total Cache plugin, but it didn’t help with gallery posts.
