• I was doing a final edit on a post today and tried to set the featured image but the “Set Featured Image” option is no longer there on the edit page. I checked the screen options and it’s not even listed.

I did install a couple of new plugins lately and disabled them straight away but it did not fix the problem. I also updated a couple of plugins lately and think I disabled all of those too. Still no joy.

I am using Genesis Lifestyle theme and I have always had to the “set featured image” option on the post edit page until today. Somehow it just disappeared.

Please help me get this option back as it’s really important to me. I am pretty new to this so please make it easy to understand.
    Thanks!

  • Your plugin(s) likely added customs fields to your posts/pages and an additional one conflicted and made a mess of it…so…

    A) Make sure you have properly deactivated and then deleted the previously used plugins in the WP admin section…many plugins create database table entries (or mod core files, the ones on WP do (should) not, but the world of search makes many find terrible code) that need to be removed (upon plugin removal) and are not if the plugin ‘delete’ function does not complete properly…to resolve this possible issue, re-install the plugin, activate, wait (!important) ,deactivate, then make sure to delete it in WP admin panel immediately after (!important).

    B) Review your posts for any custom fields that are left behind by the plugin.

    C) Create a NEW post and see if you can now add a featured image as coded in your theme.

    D) Always review a plugin for both compatibility with your theme and other plugins before using…

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately I have tried everything you suggested but no luck. Still not “set featured image” option when editing a post.

Thanks Swansonphotos. I disabled all the plugins one by one until I found the culprit. Back working again now. Cheers!
