• Hi All, we’re moving away from Prestashop to WooCommerce but we’re missing a really crucial checkout feature that comes as standard with Prestashop… The ability to choose from multiple billing/shipping addresses by the customer and from the back office when taking phone orders.

Specifically this module has several missing features:

    1. If a customer makes a phone order there’s no way to select their saved addresses from the back office.

    2. There’s no way of amending/deleting saved addresses from the back office.

    3. If a default shipping address doesn’t exist the button to add additional shipping addresses still visible but doesn’t do anything. Button simply needs hiding.

    4. There’s no option to save a shipping address phone number.

    5. At the “basket totals” stage there’s an option to change shipping address but you can’t select the saved addresses at this point. Not obvious that moving to the last checkout screen will let the user choose from their address book.

    6. On the last checkout screen as well as choosing from a saved shipping address you can also choose to enter a completely new shipping address but this address doesn’t save for future use.

    7. There’s no way to amend the shipping address of a pending order from the back office using a drop-down box to select from the address book. Therefore manually copying/pasting a saved address seems to be the only option. THIS LAST POINT IS RARELY AN ISSUE BUT IS A FEATURE WITHIN PRESTASHOP.

Are some/all these features on the horizon or can they be added to our plug-in at an additional cost?

Alternatively, is there another module that already has these features?

    Thanks

    Nick

Hi, thanks for your interest in the plugin.

    1. If a customer makes a phone order there’s no way to select their saved addresses from the back office.
    — Are you using a specific back office plugin or just the standard Add Order in WooCommerce? This hasn’t been an issue so far, but it is a good suggestion to add it to the admin interface for a user profile/new order.
Every site we’ve delt with so far either uses a 3rd party back office system or uses something like a User Switching plugin ( https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/user-switching/ ) to switch to the user for taking orders which allows use of the address book. The main reason being is the default Add Order in WooCommerce doesn’t allow credit card payments to be entered so the user must be impersonated in some way to to take an order over the phone.

    2. There’s no way of amending/deleting saved addresses from the back office.
    — A good suggestion for an enhancement. Our customers that use the plugin use User Switching when they need to assist a customer with managing their address book.

    3. If a default shipping address doesn’t exist the button to add additional shipping addresses still visible but doesn’t do anything. Button simply needs hiding.
    — I’m not seeing this issue anywhere we use the plugin. If the customer doesn’t have a shipping address yet, the button is not visible.

    4. There’s no option to save a shipping address phone number.
    — This is just because WooCommerce doesn’t have a shipping phone number by default. If you use a plugin like Checkout Field Editor ( https://woocommerce.com/products/woocommerce-checkout-field-editor/ ) or add extra fields to shipping yourself with custom code ( https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/tutorial-customising-checkout-fields-using-actions-and-filters/ ) then the WooCommerce Address Book plugin works fine to use those fields in all of your saved address.

    5. This is a good suggestion. It does let you enter country/city/state/zip if not the full address so this would be a good place to also use the address book for selecting an address.

    6. This appears to be a bug, this used to work fine. We’ll look into fixing this issue.

    7. Basically the same as 1 but on the edit screen instead of new.

    Hi Matt

Has any development work been started yet? We are planning to go live with our new site in December but this is the one missing feature.

We plan to add orders via the WooCommerce back office. Maybe we’ll find a better 3rd party solution but that’s the current plan.

Online shops should be using a Virtual Terminal to take card payments. I think it’s actually against the law to impersonate a user in order to take payment. It fools the card companies into thinking the customer placed the order via the web rather than phone.

So I appreciate that I could do that to access the customer’s address but it’s a bit of a strange way of working.

    Cheers

    Nick
