• You have removed features that are part of the free version. On your plugin site you have ‘Hide Login & Admin URL’ (Free vs Pro features) as part of the free version of the plugin. This is now missing since the last update, and a few other options seem to have disappeared as well.

    Update. For anyone else who cant find it. If you go to:

    NOTIFICATIONS: Hide Backend – New Login URL, you will see the link ‘Hide Backend’ under the title top left.

    When you click on this link it will take you to the ‘hide backend’ feature. Oddly this link isn’t attached to any of the menu options. If you look at your screenshots of the NEW dash, you can clearly see it used to be in CONFIGURE, under Lockouts.

    Just to add to the above issue with the ‘Hide backend’ feature. On my staging site I couldn’t find the path that existed on the live version. If you cant find my example altogether then add this after the trailing slash on your URL:

    [your domain url]/wp-admin/admin.php?page=itsec&path=%2Fsettings%2Fconfigure%2Fadvanced%2Fhide-backend

    This will give you the option to activate or amend this feature that once was easily available.

    Developers, please look at your code and amend the UI to make it easier to find this feature. It’s listed on the FREE version of your plugin and shouldn’t be hidden.

    also I am getting 500 errors which seems to relate to a memory leak. It goes away if I do the following;

    Disable your plugin, or disable a few other plugins that could be conflicting. I will do some further research to which one is the cause. I never had any issues prior to updating to the latest version of your plugin.

    Please read the 6 New Security Settings Groups section of the iThemes Security 8.0 Brings New Design, Features post on iThemes blog.

    Pay special attention to the 6th (Advanced) Settings Group. You can find the Hide Backend feature there …

    I just upgraded the free version and there is no Tools or Advanced option showing… I am wondering about API and detailed settings for WordPress…?

    @vizou

    That sounds like a different issue which deserves its own topic.
    Could you post a screenshot for us to be able to see the issue ?

    Also on what device (pc, laptop, mobile, ipad, etc) are you experiencing this ?

    +++++ To prevent any confusion, I’m not iThemes +++++

    @nlpro I am on MacBook Pro, latest version of WordPress 5.8, Brave browser.Kinda hard to give you a screenshot NOT showing something however… no Tools or Advanced under any of the views (Settings, Config, User Groups, etc.).

    Ok, I see.

    I’m not familiar with the MacBook Pro. Are you interfacing with a mouse or trackpad (touchscreen)?

    It’s not something simple, like having to scroll to the bottom of the fold out menu for the Tools/Advanced links to show up ?

    The thing is the fold out menu won’t show a scrollbar telling you that there is something to scroll to at the bottom. I’ve noticed that depending on the device one is working on, the Tools/Advanced links at the bottom of the fold out menu may of may not fit on the page. So A bit of scrolling is sometimes required to get them in view.

    Just as a sidenote, the Tools/Advanced links are only available navigating to the Security > Settings menu option (free plugin 8.0.1 release).

    Okay, so I am now seeing it… the description and documentation link mentioned above wasn’t showing that lower menu option at all so I didn’t know where to go to get the screenshot they were showing that had “Tools” in it. Thanks for the tip. All good now.

    Ahh, thanks, really happy to hear that.

    So this one won’t keep me awake tonight ??

    Sweet dreams.
