MISSING IMAGES after website hosting migration, any way to find them ?

    hello,

Do you know how to list woocommerce products where images are missing ?

I moved the shop from hosting company and it seems that some images are missing, lost during the transfer maybe, but I have thousands products and cannot check all one by one.

So if you have any idea how to find the pages that link to missing images, thank you so much !

  • Hi there

    Sorry to hear about that.
This could be due to several different reasons.

Have you checked whether your images’ files are really missing from your library (Media → Library in your WordPress dashboard), or if they are simply not being displayed on your products’ pages for some reason?

In any case, if the migration was done by your hosting service, I recommend that you contact them reporting the issue. They will be better equipped to fix the migration, or to point you in the right direction.

If by any chance they can’t provide you with any support, please indicate your site link, and one or more examples of missing product’s images, so we can see if we’re able to help.

Thank you, but I am looking only for a way to list the images that are linked on products pages and I will find by myself how to fix.
My only problem is to have a way for wordpress to tell me what page link to a picture that is not on the server.
    Thanks again.

There’s no default feature like this.

Meanwhile, i found an untested guide that could help here: https://wpmissing.com/plugins/check-missing-featured-images/

This is a fairly complex development topic. I’m going to leave it open for a bit to see if anyone is able to chime in to help you out.

I can also recommend the WooCommerce Developer Resources Portal for resources on developing for WooCommerce.

You can also visit the WooCommerce Facebook group or the #developers channel of the WooCommerce Community Slack. We’re lucky to have a great community of open-source developers for WooCommerce, and many of our developers hang out there, as well.

Thank you, but can you explain me why it is difficult to just check what images pages/posts/products are supposed to load and list the ones that cannot be loaded because they are not on the server ?
I was thinking that it was something super simple?
    Thanks again for all.

    @cacabe

Like I mentioned in my previous response, WordPress does not have a default feature to check for missing featured/product images. You can only do this via custom development or a plugin.

    Also see this plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/products-missing-featured-image/

I understood, but do not think that it’s a big job to make a plugin with this function.

I have tried this plugin and it seems to work but will not keep it installed as it hasn’t been updated since 3 years.

    Thank you.

    Hi @cacabe

I have tried this plugin and it seems to work but will not keep it installed as it hasn’t been updated since 3 years.

Good to know that the plugin worked for you thus helping solve the problem for the time being.

My only problem is to have a way for wordpress to tell me what page link to a picture that is not on the server.

If a picture is not on the server yet its link is there on one or more pages then those would be broken links. So the Broken Link Checker plugin could be a helpful tool here. https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/broken-link-checker/

For any questions regarding this third party plugin, you may reach out at their forum here: https://www.ads-software.com/support/plugin/broken-link-checker/

    I hope this helps!
