• Hi. I want to set specific Link colour options for both the main Navigation menu items and any sub menu items. I can set a Link colour for a Group that contains the Navigation block and this will cascade through to the menu and sub menu items. However, when it comes to setting colours on the Navigation block itself, I only have the following options…

    • Text
    • Background
    • Submenu and overlay text
    • Submenu and overlay background

…so I can basically change the colour of everything except the link colour.

Typically I have a light link colour on a dark background for my main menu, and a lighter background colour with a dark text for sub menus, so the single Link colour option that I can set using the Group doesn’t always work in both instances.

    Can anyone advise?

  • Your question can not be answered without knowing your site. Issues that affect the appearance, including the menu, you solve about the theme used. If the theme does not support what you want, you change it or help yourself with individual CSS. I would therefore recommend you to contact the support of the theme you use. They know it and can help you with it.

Hi. Unfortunately the site is internal due to be in development currently, and the theme being used is bespoke, but has used both the twentytwentytwo and frost themes for inspiration. Additionally, both of these themes have also been tested and similarly lack the ability to select Link colours.

We want to enable multiple site owners to select colours appropriate to their brand requirements, which the Navigation bar permits in terms of text and background colours for the main and sub menus respectively, but does not allow for the actual link colours, through the Navigation bar interface as it stands.

I could use CSS to apply an ‘appropriate’ initial link colour, but depending on the choice of background colours selected by users, this might then no longer be appropriate and accessible.

Edited to add: I could also look to extend the Navigation block, but am loathe to deviate from the core block, especially with potentially ‘missing functionality’ that might subsequently be introduced.
