Missing optipng, gifsicle

    Hi, I would really appreciate your assistance with this. My site is https://www.primapilates.co.uk and I have recently moved to a new host but I’ve never seen this message before. I have updated everything in WordPress, but have these few problems. I tried to download the EWWW Image Optimizer 1.4.4 and upload it, but that didn’t fix anything. Then I tried to download the individual files ‘optipng’ and ‘gifsicle’ and following the instructions I managed to download the files off the website, but then got stuck because I couldn’t open the ‘configure’ file as I am using a Mac. I tried it on a Windows 7 PC but on that I can’t even extract the files. So, I’m stuck. Please help. Many thanks!

    Who is your new webhost? It appears that optipng and gifsicle are verified, but that your server can’t run them for some reason.

    The best way to install the plugin, is always to use the built-in wordpress plugin installer. Manually uploading or copying the files can often corrupt the binaries, so I would start with deleting and reinstalling the plugin using the built-in installer within wordpress.

    If that doesn’t fix anything, contact your webhost to see if they can run the files, or if they have some sort of restriction in place that is preventing those from working.

    Apologies I didn’t see you replied there. No, I use GANDI for my webhost. And how do I install the plugin or delete and reinstall? Many thanks.

    From the dashboard, on the Plugins page, there is a deactivate link below the plugin. After you have deactivated, you will have a link that allows you to delete it. Then you click Add New (near the top or on the menu), search for ‘ewww’ and click the Install link next to the plugin.

    It looks like your webhost has some restrictions in place that prevent the binaries from working. It looks like all the other checks are passing, until it comes to actually outputting the version strings, and then it fails. So, one of two things:
    1. Your webhost is blocking the execution of tools in the web folder.
    2. The binaries are incompatible with your new server.

    If you have ssh access to your server, you could try running the binaries manually to test them, or ask their tech support to test them out and see what happens.

    or you can use the ‘cloud’ functionality in the new version: 1.6.0

    Perhaps this is old news, but I did the upgrade on the goDaddy server to PHP 5.3 and after deleting and reinstalling your plugin everything worked. Great plugin and it looks like you do a great job of supporting it. Thank you.
