    Hi all,

I’ve used EWWW IO (paid version) on other websites I’ve managed in the past, with success! They were managed by WPEngine. However, I just installed EWWW IO (free version) on a client’s website managed through GoDaddy (only about 130 original pictures). I’m being told I don’t have gifsicle (not worried about) and optipng (worried about). I know that GoDaddy’s documentation recommends your plugin for optimization, but since they manage it, I don’t think I have access to install optipng the way your documentation suggests. Is there another way?
    Thank you!!!

Unfortunately, their WP Managed servers only support jpegtran, because they pre-install it on those servers. They don’t allow our bundled optimizers to work, nor do they install optipng/gifsicle, although I don’t recall if anyone ever asked them to install optipng or gifsicle (so you might try asking and see if that gets anywhere). You certainly can’t install the tools yourself on a managed server like that, so I’m afraid using the API (paid version) is about the only way to make EWWW IO work on that platform.

    Hi there,
Thanks for your reply! That’s really too bad, because I’ve enjoyed using EWWW IO over the years! Unfortunately, I’m not sure my client is going to go for another cost on top of the ones he is currently paying for with his site. I can try and reach out to GoDaddy, but it looks like I might have to go with another plugin. If I deactivate the plugin on the site, is there anything I need to be aware of/make an extra backup of?

Nothing that would go missing, the images all stay in place. If you want to do some thorough cleaning, you can delete everything prefixed with ewww_ from the wp_options table, and then delete the wp_ewwwio_* tables.
