Missing Posts Tab Feature – Suggestion?
-
Hi – regarding your posts tab:
As far as I can see (sorry if I’m wrong) -if you remove tab visibility for a role it means that role cannot see the tab anywhere, no matter which profile they visit – their own or another, and this is a little limiting.
An example:
It follows that ‘Role 1’ (who cannot edit posts) should not see the posts tab themselves at their profile, or display that tab to anyone else visiting their profile – why see it if they cannot make posts?
But – as above using your settings will also remove visibility for ‘Role 1’ of posts tab on ALL PROFILES…
So what if, even though ‘Role 1’ is not allowed to write posts, we still want ‘Role 1’ to READ other posts; to see them on other profiles around the site – like the posts made by ‘Role 2’ when they visit the profile of ‘Role 2’?
Suggestion:
So as well as your great visibility options in admin which say: ‘Don’t allow to see posts tab anywhere around site if user role is X….’
There could be an option for: ‘Show posts tab on displayed profile if displayed profile can edit_posts’…
Or: ‘Show posts tab on displayed profile if displayed profile is this role: (pick role here)’
The visibility is a useful option but it feels incomplete without the ability to do the above also. I hope you don’t mind my suggestion and that I have explained what I mean clearly enough ??
Meanwhile if there is a way to achieve this with a bit of code in functions I would be really grateful to know.
Kind regards
