Missing products in subcategories / but only some / tried most fixes

    Hi there WC folks,

    Iam having a strange problem with one WC site Iam working with.
    Its a big site with many products and categories.

    My problem is:
    Some products are not shown in the frontend.

    So at first I tried/checked the usual things and settings:

    • resaved permalinks
    • recounted the terms (WC setting)
    • cleared transients (WC setting)
    • checked visibility settings
    • checked that products are published
    • checked different sorting options on the frontend
    • checked missing fields (image, sku, price … but all there)
    • checked if the products has the right categories assigned (parent and sub)
    • no extra caching active
    • checked posts_per_page

    This was all not helping.

    So I than exported 2 products from the same category.
    One which is shown in the frontend and one that is not displayed.

    I couldnt find any differences. All fields are there everything is the same.

    The thing is:
    In the backend everything is fine.

    Even in the frontend, the subcategories show the correct count of products.
    But when I than click/go into a subcategory, not all products are shown.

    If I resave a product, without any changes, it is than displayed on the frontend.

    Also strange: this happend the day before yesterday, it happend to most of the categories but not all. Before everything was OK. The categories and products itself were not changed that day.
    The products modified date is some weeks old.

    The problem is, I have over 50000 products. So a manual resaving is not gonna work, and even an automatic approach crashes the site, atleast without working in batches.

    The products where imported using a CSV file.
    But as said every field is there, and it is not happening to all products/cats.

    Has anybody any other idea what maybe can cause this behaviour?

    Consider resaving all products with a code snippet. Sorry not tested.
