    Hi,
Before installing the plugin, I had tried to delete a site. I found the site and decided to keep it. I added myself as a user or something, so the site shows up in my network list of sites.

The site does not appear in the plug-in’s list of network sites. It appears in the MultiSite network list.

    toni-esl.com
You will see a widget for the Directory. Under “Social” there is nothing – that’s where the missing site would be. toni-esl.com/eslbuddy is the missing site.

I am not knowledgeable or very experienced with code. I can do what I’m instructed, nothing more.

    Thank you

If what you’re saying is that there exists a site in your network but not in the Directory (because you’ve deleted it from the directory but not your WordPress network), then you simply need to manually re-add the site to the Directory.

To do this, go to the admin for your network’s main site, then choose Sites -> Add New from the left-hand Dashboard menu. It looks very much like a new post screen, but it says “Add New Site” at the top instead of “Add New Post.”

To be clear, the actual sites in your WordPress network are not automatically synced with the entries in the plugin’s Directory. This lets you keep a Directory that is different from your network’s underlying site structure, which is useful for people who want to showcase only parts of their network in the Directory.

    Great! Thank you.
I stupidly thought I may be created a new site that way.

Ah, no, it’s not creating a new site, it’s creating a new entry in the site directory.

If you do create a whole new site, the plugin will notice this and automatically add a new entry to the site directory, as well. But when you add a new entry just to the directory, the plugin does not also create a whole new site, because I figured site creation was best left to WordPress core! ??

The previously “missing” site doesn’t appear in the shortcode Network Directory.

I am not knowledgeable enough to make much sense, I’ll try.
1). Before I installed Network Directory plugin:
    – I had attempted to delete a subsite.
All that happened was that subsite was removed from the WP MS network site lists and admin navigation. The site still existed intact.

    – I didn’t get any replies from WP MS Support.

    – I had to manually add that site to the WP MS network.
I did that by adding myself as a user via the admin of the specific site. Then it showed up in the network system, lists, and nav.

2). The previously “missing” site isn’t being automatically detected anymore. (Since I had tried to delete it.)
    I don’t think it’s your plugin
    – Support people always blame the plugin developers first, so I’m starting here.
    – I don’t know how to get help
Any direction you can point me in would be great. I don’t know the terminology well enough to search documentation or write a support question effectively.

That’s asking a lot of you. I just need a hint to get started, to get help. No worries if you don’t want to get involved!

    Thanks

I’m happy to help but it’s not clear from this report what you actually did (as in, what buttons you pressed where and what in order), so it’s not possible to recreate the chain of events that is resulting in the situation you’re dealing with.

I would suggest that you read this article on How To Write A Good Bug Report and then see if you can post a new thread with a clearer explanation of what your issue is.
