Missing some excerpts and read more in the Post Page

    Hi all,

    Just wondering if anyone know how to fix this. This happens on the Post Page. The excerpts from the 2 most recent posts are missing. The one below that has the excerpt but missing the Read More sign. Whereas the older ones are fine (i.e. have excerpts and read more sign). See the link to the page to the website! I am using Astra theme.

    Using Updraft for back up. I have tried to restore to old back up, to the date before those three posts were created. Then I created a new post and the excerpt was still missing. So I went back to the today’s back up again.

    I have tried comparing the settings of the older posts and the newer ones (the problematic ones) but I couldn’t see any thing wrong/different.

    I have tried using the manual excerpts for those 2 posts, and it worked. However the issue will persist for the future posts that the excerpts are missing. In addition using manual excerpt did not fix the Read More sign.

    My initial setting in the Astra theme customize settings is ‘excerpt’. I changed it to full, which then display the full articles, then changed back to excerpt and the problem still persist. The excerpts not showing for those 2 post and subsequent posts, but showing for the older ones.

    I don’t think I have changed any other settings (both wordpress or astra settings) that may have caused the issue.

  • Hello, have you already tried to deactivate all plugins?
    Maybe it is a plugin conflict.

    I just tried deactivating all plugins but the problem still persists.

    1. Even if all plugins except Astra are deactivated, the problem persists?
    2.Have you deleted the cache before?
    3.Have you tried to regenerate the files in the Astra settings (Astra Dashboard-Settings-Asset Regeneration)?
    4.Can you post your website report?

    1. I have deactivated it again one by one and problem still persist. I activated one by one and still same. My plugins are elementor, elementor header and footer, rank math, site kit google, smush, spectra, updraft, wordfence, WP auto terms, WP fastest cache, WP Forms Site.
    2. I have deleted the cache. At the top, I have tried ”Clear Cache of this Page”, I have tried “Delete Cache”, and I have tried “Delete Cache and Minified CCS/JS” (I am using WP fastest Cache)

    After I deactivated all the plugins. On the top setting, I have tried ‘Caching – Purge All’, tried ‘Purge This Page’.

    Under the cache setting on wordpress, Cache Level is : normal (Level 2)

    I am starting to think it could be the WordPress isssue, not the Astra theme issue.

    I have changed my theme to “Twenty Twenty-Three” from wordpress, and of course the Post Page looks different, but the problem still persist (missing excerpts for the newer post, but the older posts are fine).

    Could this is not Astra theme issue??

    3. I am not sure how to regenerate the files in the Astra settings. I cannot find where the “Asset Regeneration” under the setting. Would you be able to show me?

    4. I am new to this, what you meant by website report? Could you show how to generate it?

    Hello, if the problem persists even if you change the theme and deactivate the plugins then it is not an Astra problem or plugin conflict.

    You should use a persistent object cache Performance

    A persistent object cache makes your site’s database more efficient, resulting in faster load times because WordPress can retrieve your site’s content and settings much more quickly.

    Your hosting provider can tell you if a persistent object cache can be enabled on your site.

    Not sure is persistent object cache is the issue.

    You don’t need 2 Cache Plugins/Optimisation Plugins (Bluehost and WP Fastest Cache)

    Oh sorry, file regenaration is a Pro Feature:(

    Or:

    Click on “Screen Options” button. It should be located on the top right corner in the post editor.

    A window will expand, where we can set the visibility of the various fields. Add a checkbox for the “Excerpt” field.

    Now, you should see the excerpt meta box below the main content editor.

    Here you can add a excerpt. Maybe that works.

    I noticed something…..
    When I create a post with Elementor, everything works (text excerpt and read more).
    If I create a post with Spectra (with container and paragraph), no text excerpt and read more are displayed.
    If I create a post without Spectra in the Block Editor, it also works.
    Your older posts were created without Spectra, so everything is displayed correctly there.
    Maybe you should open a support ticket at Astra.

    Hi,

    I think you are right. It is the Spectra.

    My last post, I just tried to take the paragraph out of the Spectra container and it works. I will work on my other posts later on.

    I will open ticket for Astra then.
