Missing Sort By in Media Uploader

  • A client site I’m working on requires image galleries sorted by the title attribute. The new media uploader seems to be missing the “Sort by” option where I could select whether to order by title, date, etc.

    Is this a bug, or just streamlining? Is there a way I can add this option back to the uploader dialog? I imagine I can still modify the shortcode, but as I said, this is for a client, so easier is better.

  • I think that the sorting has been removed and instead you can now just drag and drop the images in the position that you wish to display them in.

    Unfortunately, that winds up being a major pain for my client. They are planning on using WP galleries as a photo directory for members of their organizations — with the image titles being in the form of “Last Name, First Name” — so they can then sort the galleries by title and get the images in the correct order.

    I have a similar problem. I painstakingly make long photo/text stories in Indesign that I export as numbered jpegs. Often more than 50 photos. Uploading them now is a complete joke. Sometimes they are in name order, sometimes backwards, sometimes semi random. Previously it was one click. now its 50 drag and drops. I understand that drag and drop is very useful, but how is removing sort by name/date progress??
