This typically happens when you are trying to install a plugin using the theme installer.

If you are trying to install a plugin, go to Plugins > Add New in your site’s Dashboard. Then click the “Upload Plugin” button at the top of the page next to the “Add Plugins” header.

I thought this could be the case, I’ve made the mistake before. ?? So I checked myself, confirmed I’m in the theme upgrade area, the updated theme uploaded, I pulled the yes flag for upgrade, and bump.. I get the fail message.

Same problem as Chris Jean, it failed to update the theme because it says there’s a missing style sheet.

I meant, same problem as dfyoun.

Can you confirm that the zip file you supplied does in fact contain a style.css file? The message comes from WordPress and not the plugin, so the message is saying that WordPress unzipped the file contents and did not find a style.css file inside.

Zip file in my case does indeed include a style.css file. Using a THB Theme that seems to be complete.

Would you be able to share the zip file that is failing with me?

You can send it to [email protected]. Please include a link to this support request so that I can reference where it came from. Thanks.

    Hello CJ,

Did you resolve this problem? Because I have the same problem.

    Hi Chris,
I am having this same issue. And no, the zip file when I download does not contain a style.css file that I can see.

    Thank you, Summer
