    Hey Jeff.

I’m just writing to tell you there is a loading problem with your plugin’s avatar in WordPress. Also, to congratulate you for your fantastic job in the community; simple and outstanding plugins for a better security and performance.

    Thanks mate.

    Hey @gamerwp,

Thanks for the great feedback, it is appreciated.

Can you let me know exactly where you are noticing the missing icon/avatar?

I am looking on default WP and do not see any missing items.

You’ll kill me but my fault; I use uBlock Origin 1.26.0 (chrome extension) and it’s blocking the avatar. Anyway, I think isn’t normal; avatars don’t should blocked in some plugins pages and others not (I can see some extra plugins being blocked too).

This is the blocked avatar: https://ps.w.org/ga-google-analytics/assets/icon-128×128.png?rev=2053004

    Cheers mate.

It may be something I can code around, but the link you just posted goes to 404…

Nevermind, the URL says it all ??

Let me see if I can find a way to resolve from the plugin side of things.

Wait, I’m confused.. there is no such path/folder/file in the free version of GA.. so this does not exist in the plugin:

    /assets/icon-128×128.png

So not sure where you are getting that file/path for GA plugin?

It’s the avatar in the homepage of the plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ga-google-analytics/

Ah, interesting. I wonder why some plugin avatars are blocked by uBlock Origin and others are not. For example (just random):

    Blocked avatar:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ga-google-analytics/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/klarity-message-action-block/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ads-wploginmenu/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/securimage-wp/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/logout-clear-cookies/

    Not blocked:

    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/banhammer/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/customize-snapshots/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wp-author-slug/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/wordpress-2-step-verification/
    https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/webdesignby-recaptcha/

No idea why uBlock would block only some of the icons? Some of the blocked images are JPG, others are PNG. Really bizarre..

Even more interesting is that some of the larger banner images are blocked and others are not, so there does not seem to be any logical pattern or explanation as to why uBlock is blocking some images (types/sizes) and not others.

Yep, strange but there is a reason for sure; you could ask to the author https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock

Yeah I will do that. Thanks again for the feedback on this, @gamerwp. Let me know if any further/related infos, etc.

Just to follow up with this, after investigating further turns out that Opera and Brave browsers (and possibly others) are blocking legit images that include “ad” or “google” (and possibly others) in the image URL. These are the browsers themselves that are blocking the images, not any addon or extension (although, addons can block legit images too). In any case, I’m writing an article about it and will follow up here when posted.
