Hi – I have just installed my first copy of WP and am looking through the “getting started” documentation. When I am in the administrative interface > Presentation > Themes screen, I see the names of the two installed themes, but the placeholders for the images are empty (i.e., no images appear of the themes).

Clicking on the blank image or the links does change the theme that shows up for the blog. Also, the theme editor appears to work properly.

I am using the latest version of Firefox and have tried changing permissions for scripts and popups and adblocking, with no change. I also tried IE; it looks the same.

Using the file manager on my site, I can view the screenshot.png’s, so they exist in the right places.

    Any thoughts?

    Steve

  • What version of PHP? What version of WordPress?

    WordPress version 2.0

    One additional discovery:
In Firefox, right-clicking on the box that says “Current Theme Preview”, I get a big FORBIDDEN You don’t have permission to access /wp-content/themes/default/screenshot.png on this server.

I’ve been playing with all permissions all evening. All the folders are 755 and all the files, including screenshot.png, are 644.

I appreciate your help, and would love to discover the answer tonight, but I must hit the sack. Check it out in the morning.

Have you checked with your host to see if they’ve done anything “odd” with permitting graphics?

    Seems strange….

I got the answer from my host:
You have hotlink protection enabled but you have not added the domain successinacademe.com to the permitted hosts. Once you do that the images will be fine.

Apparently, he did that, and the images are now visible.

    So it goes.
Thanks for everyone who read and everyone who helped.

Just want to add thanks for this post. I searched on “current theme preview” and this answered my question. ??
