    Hello everyone,

I’m currently evaluating a couple of malware/WAF plugins. One of the things I like about Wordfence so far is the live traffic. However in moving around browsers and platforms I noticed that in Safari and Chrome on the Mac I do not have the toggle to expand all results. It is stuck toggled on. I could swear it was there at one time but I cannot get it back. I’ve tried clearing the cache in Safari and it still didn’t come back. It is there in Firefox on both the Mac and Windows as well as Edge in Windows.

Any suggestions to bring it back are appreciated

Hi @slamchez, thanks for your detailed description of what you’re seeing.

I think if you’ve already tried clearing caches, could I just ask if you still experience the missing button when Wordfence is the only enabled plugin? Even though it seems like a platform/browser correlation, there’s a chance that a JavaScript conflict from another plugin’s code could be handled better or ignored/unsupported on some browsers where it’s not happening. It would be good if we could rule this in/out.

    Many thanks,
    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

Thanks for picking this up. I just disabled all plugins except for Wordfence on a test site, cleared cache again, and even tried an incognito window. No luck. I also thought for some odd reason it might be an ad blocker but disabling those didn’t help either. For reference the list of installed plug ins is:

    • FluentSMTP
    • Independent Analytics
    • Jetpack
    • Malcare
    • Markup Markdown
    • Wordfence Security
    • WP Server Stats

    Thanks,

    Brian

    Hi @slamchez,

If you don’t mind, please allow me to help. Several questions first:

    1. Can you share a screenshot of your issue?
    2. Do all other expand/collapse buttons/toggles work?
    3. When you visit Wordfence’s Live Traffic page and perform a Console Error check, are you getting any errors? If yes, what are they?
    4. Are you experiencing the same issue when you login using an iPhone or iPad?
    5. Did you try disabling the experimental features of Safari?
    6. Are you using the latest device-compatible version of macOs??
    7. Do you have the same issue with a windows-based PC? If yes, then read below. If not, then obviously there’s an extension or built-in code in your Mac that is causing the issue (not Wordfence).

    Potential Solutions:

Option 1: Remove Jetpack and Malcare (perform a clean uninstall in all cases), clear all cache layers, then login in incognito mode.

Option 2: Remove or disable any custom PHP code snippets you may using. Afterwards, clear all cache layers, then login in incognito mode.

Option 3: Remove Jetpack, Malcare and Wordfence (perform a clean uninstall in all cases), clear all cache layers, re-install only Wordfence, then login in incognito mode.

Did any of the above help?

    Cheers!

Note: I’m not affiliated with Wordfence. Simply offering goodwilll support.

    Hi Generous,

Thanks for trying to help out.

    1. Can you share a screenshot of your issue?
    2. Do all other expand/collapse buttons/toggles work?
      • Yes. As far as I can tell the rest of Wordfence is working fine. For example I can expand the Live Traffic options above the traffic.
    3. When you visit Wordfence’s Live Traffic page and perform a Console Error check, are you getting any errors? If yes, what are they?
      • As far as I can tell no. There are no errors in either the Safari or Chrome console dev tools
    4. Are you experiencing the same issue when you login using an iPhone or iPad?
      • Yes. I just tried my iPad just now and the issue is happening there as well. I’ve never logged in to this site on anything other than a Mac.
    5. Did you try?disabling the experimental features?of Safari?
      • I have the box ticked in settings (so that the develop item on the menu bar appears) but none of the options are enabled
    6. Are you using the?latest device-compatible version of macOs??
      • Yes. I just double checked as well
    7. Do you have the same issue with a windows-based PC? If yes, then read below. If not, then obviously there’s an extension or built-in code in your Mac that is causing the issue (not Wordfence).
      • I do not. I have tried disabling a couple of extensions I have for Safari in particular and nothing has changed.

It’s odd that it’s fine in Firefox and Edge in Windows (Edge being Chromium) but does not work with Chrome on the Mac but Firefox is fine on both places. I get that there might be some odd incompatibility with Safari but the fact that Chrome is broken has me a little stumped.

    Hi @slamchez,

Thanks for the screenshot and other info.

Based on your screenshots, the Live Traffic expand/collapse toggle does not appear because there is nothing to expand. Your Live Traffic screen does not display any captured information. Perhaps I’m wrong, but when your site starts capturing information (i.e., live traffic), the toggle should appear.

Also, I noticed you haven’t updated to WP 6.7. Please update to WP 6.7, clear all cache, logout, then login. See if that helps. You should switch to another JS or PHP level to see if that helps as well.

Last, based on your overall reported conditions, I can firmly state that the issue is probaly with macOs and those browsers and their revision levels. Sit tight, at the next browser update (or two), the issue should be fixed. I’ve had issues with macOS in the past (Safari and Chrome), but not with Firefox. Eventually, that got fixed with browser updates.

    Hope the above helps.

    Hi @generosus,

There is no traffic because I picked a filter with no traffic. There is traffic coming to the site and I just posted another screenshot to the folder. I was just trying not to show login information but it is a test site I’m showing in the screenshots so it’s probably ok.

Was about to say you’re probably right that it’s some kind of bug somewhere and it’ll work itself out in time. Then as I was typing this I saw an open tab from my production site and it refreshed automatically and…. it’s fine…..

New screenshots in the folder at the link in my previous post.

I think it’s some kind of render bug. Just logged in to the prod site in Chrome to check and it still had the bug. Making it full screen shows the expected toggle. Making a screen recording and dropping it in the folder as well.

    Thanks for that.

I believe we can agree this is not a Wordfence issue.

If so, to prevent confusion, kindly consider closing this topic as “Resolved.”

If I can help further, I’ll post my answer here.

    Cheers!

I just wanted to follow up briefly.

I just logged into Windows and logged in to my back end and can verify the same behavior in Edge. Fullscreen toggle is there, windowed it is not and all items are expanded as on the Mac.

Would just appreciate some input from the team as to whether or not this is expected behavior as Firefox does not do this. Once we know for sure I can mark it as resolved.

    Tagging @wfpeter

Verified: If you shrink the size of your browser window or minimize it, the expand/collapse toggle disappears and all live traffic events are automatically expanded. Problem solved. Safe to close this as “Resolved.”
