Hi, After the last update I realised that I am unable to select a venue or organisers from the drop down list. both drop down list objects has disappeared from the event admin page.

It was all good up until the latest release.

    Hi @mabdulla,

I am so sorry that you are facing these problems.

This seems to be related to our update to use selectWoo on our last update. Probably there is some compatibility problem with other plugins, we have identified a couple of scenarios where ACF might throw errors when we try to use on the same page as our The Events Calendar.

Would you mind sending us a Screenshot of the Console of your Browser on the page that error is currently happening?

@mabdulla thanks so much for the extra information.

We are logging this issue internally and will take care of it as soon as possible.

It’s for sure some compatibility issues, and we are trying to figure out with what specifically.

Our team will keep you posted about that bug being fixed.

    I am sorry for not having a full out solution for you right now;

We have this article here about how to help us pinpoint from which external resource the conflict is coming from:

    https://theeventscalendar.com/knowledgebase/k/testing-for-conflicts/

I know this can be a little time consuming, but it does help tremendously.

    Hi @bordoni
No worries, I managed to find the plugin that seems to have the conflict.
As soon as deactivated plugin?UsersWP I was the lists started to work..!!
UsersWP – User Profile & registration
I have UsersWP version 1.2.2 installed right no0w which is the latest. no pending available updates. I hope this helps.?
    Regards
    Ma’en?Abdulla

The very exact same thing is occurring here, since recent update… I am not using the UsersWP plugin… I’ll mess around, see if I can get some ideas, or if I can find a plugin conflict… There does seem to be something related indicated in the console, and I have submitted screenshots on your site… I am using the Divi theme…

I Have found the plugin in my case that the recent update is conflicting with… It is Advanced Custom Fields… When it is deactivated the issue goes away, and the script errors in the console disappear as well…

I am hoping, because it is a very popular, widely used and highly rated plugin, that if it becomes necessary you will engage with ACF folks directly, so I won’t myself open a ticket to inform them of this conflict…

In the meantime until this is fixed I have deactivated ACF, in the hopes of reactivating it soon…

A couple things still going on in the console, so will upload a new console screenshot to your site in the ticket I opened there, in case it is helpful…

    Hi @crzyhrse and @mabdulla,
Thanks for the feedback on that, we indent to fix on a release that is coming out relatively soon for you all.

@crzyhrse would you mind sharing some Screenshots and which version of ACF you are using just to make sure on my testing?

    My Best Regards,

I uploaded console screenshots onto your TEC site- here is the ticket I attached them to… https://support.theeventscalendar.com/ticket_pCKdKiNZFmJHWTMo

I also uploaded a copy of the system that Sarah, responding to that ticket, asked for… She also asked for my license key… I told her I was using the free version… Haven’t heard back… Maybe all the action I’ll get there…?

But that was the only way I could figure out how to maybe get screenshots to you…

    ACF version is 5.8.9

    (@bordoni)

@crzyhrse soooo, I am trying to reproduce the same problem here, but it seems like just ACF by itself doesn’t really create the problem. I have version ACF Pro 5.8.9 installed.

Is there any other plugins that when deactivated make the problem go away?

    Hi @bordoni,

    I’m using the free version…

And there is all the info I sent through your TEC site, as mentioned, that I believe it would be helpful for you to look at…? Including lot of errors showing in the console screenshots… I went to some trouble to gather all that, register onto the site, and put it there for you…

Then there is the other plugin, UsersWP, that the issue appears with, mentioned by @mabdulla… So the issue is clearly going on with more than one plugin…

And then of course this just showed up for the first time after the recent update… That should also narrow it down a little bit…?

I believe in all this together is a lot of possibility to do some zeroing in on things…?

Plus in some of your words above you may already have some ideas…? It doesn’t sound like it was totally unfamiliar to you…?

It is a live site, somewhat new, with some nice activity already, and I don’t want to put people off who are just discovering it, by deactivating to many plugins… I was lucky ACF turned up so soon… Starts with an A, near the top of the list… ??

Plus its a lot of plugins… A list of which I also put on your TEC site, in that same ticket… If you can get a list of plugins from @mabdulla maybe see what is the same on both sites, narrow it some more…?

If you can narrow it down for me a bit, maybe tomorrow I can try to see if I can turn up something more…

Long as we understand it seems evident this is not unique to my site or AFC…?

Let me know what you find…

    Hi @crzyhrse,
We do have a very good idea of what is the problem, but like anything, in an ecosystem as big as WordPress we need to make sure our fix applies on most of the situations where the problem is Present, and since this is for sure happening on multiple cases like you did explain I want to make sure I have as many cases and behaviors being tracked for the purposes of testing and confirming our fix for one case doesn’t break for others.

So my goal here with these messages is to fully understand what scenario is causing the problem, it doesn’t seem like ACF is the problem here, so I wanted to make sure when we call the problem out in our changelogs it has a proper description.

I do understand you frustration, but I am really just trying to make sure we have the proper data-set since if we don’t get the correct fix out the door it’s just another layer of problems for everyone.

    best regards

    @crzyhrse and @bordoni
Just my 2 cents worth here..
I cloned my site before commencing to deactivate my plugins on the cloned instance..
You can do site cloning very easily under Cpanel. Very handy for testing things without impacting on your live site..

@bordoni I do understand. on a smaller scale I have many times had to deal with my own layering, so to speak, fixing a problem with css coming out of earlier css instead of correcting the earlier version, which eventually winds up with something unfixable without going back to the beginning…

@mabdulla, thanks for the positive encouragement… I was thinking of maybe doing something like that, when/as there is some time… Also to have for other issues as they come up…

    Kind regards…

    Thanks @mabdulla and @crzyhrse,

I have a potential fix for the problem you two reported.

    https://github.com/moderntribe/tribe-common/pull/1357

The only problem is that I cannot reproduce the problem since I tried installing both the free version of ACF, the PRO version, and UsersWP. All combinations of these three.

Our team will try to reproduce it further and confirm that it as a fix, once that is done, someone will follow up here with you all once it’s released.

    best Regards,

@bordoni, Thank you for getting onto this in such a solid and timely way…
