• Hi Ben, I’m here to request a feature again. ??

As can be understood from the title, I think that the absence of such a bookmarks or favorites feature is a major shortcoming. Of course it’s not necessary. But for many people it could have been nice.

It would be nice to have it next to the post titles. Here I made a demo again: https://i.hizliresim.com/p2fp72a.jpg
(Maybe in front of the article title, in the other corner.)

An option like members only or everyone would be nice too.

If you can at least tell me if it is possible to add this process externally for this theme, it may be a guide for those who want the same thing.

    Best regards.

    Hello again,

    Thanks for this suggestion.

I think this feature is outside the scope of Mission News because it also requires some membership functionality for readers to manage their bookmarks. For this reason, I think a plugin like this would be best: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/cbxwpbookmark/

The bookmark button will show up below the post title right above the first sentence of the article. Since it includes a shortcode though, you could edit the content.php template to insert it into the same div with the post title.

Let me know what you think.

    Thank you for the recommendation.

I don’t know, WordPress already has a membership system. In addition, cookies may also be used.

It’s not showy, but I thought a very simple bookmark system might be useful.

I will try the plugin soon. I want to make my site somewhat reader-based. This theme already does that great. But I thought about what else could be done.

Cookies can be used but then every time they clear their browser cache they will lose all their bookmarks. Member registration is available in WP, but a signup form and user profile page would need to be added with bookmark management. It’s just a lot of functionality that runs outside of templating and site design stuff.

But this is why Mission News is built following WP coding best practices – it works with thousands of plugins like the one above, so you can add all sorts of functionality like bookmarks without needing to find it all in one theme.

Understood. Thank you again for this great theme. I like its simple stance and customizability.
