• Hi there
I made a mistake setting up Google Analytics within my Google Tag Manager (in my website) by using two different accounts (I wasn’t clear about that at the moment I started setting everything up). I read a lot about this kind a mistake, and used so much time in trying to fix it in Google Analytic + Tag Manager, but I can’t figure it out. I really need help.

    I’m using Site Kit:
Error: Looks like you’re already using Google Analytics within your Google Tag Manager configuration. However, its Analytics property UA-209505581-1 is different from the Analytics property UA-207654450-4, which is currently selected in the plugin. You need to configure the same Analytics property in both places.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hello @ahmedburai thank you for your question. This message you are seeing is telling us that the Tag Manager container you are looking to add to your Site Kit already has an analytics property associated with it.

The Tag Manager container you are trying to add is associated with the Analytics property UA-209505581-1. The current analytics property connected via Site Kit is UA-207654450-4 which doesn’t match.

It looks like you have Analytics placed via Site Kit so you can fix this issue by following one of these 3 methods:

    1. Disconnect the Analytics module and set up the Tag Manager module first. Site Kit will then recognize the Tag Manager applied Analytics property UA-207654450-4. To do this go to Site Kit Settings > Analytics > Edit > Disconnect Analytics from Site Kit. See here.
    2. Modify the connected property via the Analytics module, using the same Analytics property ID configured within your Google Tag Manager container (Site Kit > Settings > Analytics > Edit).
    3. Modify the the property applied within Tag Manager , to match the property you have connected via Analytics within Site Kit.

Please let me know how you get on with this and if you have any questions.

After I made the recommendations you said,
    He gave me this message
“Looks like you’re using Google Analytics. Your Analytics property UA-209505581-1 is already set up in your Google Tag Manager configuration, so Site Kit will switch to using Google Tag Manager for Analytics”.

Thanks for the information. This message is normal and is explaining that the Tag Manager account you are connecting to through Site Kit already has the Analytics property UA-209505581-1 configured in it.

Is UA-209505581-1 the Analytics property you wanted connected or are you trying to connect property UA-207654450-4?

@ahmedburai no problem at all and thanks for clarifying. In this case what you will need to do is remove the tag for the Analytics property UA-209505581-1 from your Tag Manager account.

To do this you will need to do the following:

    1. Go to the Tag Manager website and log in to your account.
    2. Select your container.
    3. Click on the Tags option from the left hand menu and find your Analytics tag.
    4. Select that tag and click on the Bin icon to remove it. See here.
    5. Submit and publish your changes from the top right.

Once you have completed these steps could you try connecting your Analytics to Site Kit once more. You should then be able to select the UA-207654450-4 property you wish to connect via Site Kit.

Let me know how this goes and if you have any further questions.

You’re welcome, really glad to hear that. Good luck moving forward with your website and please feel free to get in touch again if you encounter any further issues or have any questions regarding Site Kit.

Once you have had some more time with the plugin it would be great if you could leave a review and to hear your feedback.
