mmap() failed: [12] Cannot allocate memory

    Thumbnails stopped being visible in my galleries and the HTTP server logs shows many errors “mmap() failed: [12] Cannot allocate memory” when I try to administer a gallery. Simply viewing a gallery from “Manage Galleries” triggers mmap errors.

    The files in the thumbs directory have modification dates from a month ago.

    Looks like it’s a system-level issue. I just saw a sudo command get a memory error.
