    Hi,

I wonder if enabling mobile cache in my case is appropriate or not.

My website does not use AMP, have same url for desktop and mobile, is responsive using media queries, and I use CCSS.

I read in documentation that “there are other situations where you would want to set Cache Mobile to ON, such as: If you are using the CCSS service”

I am currently trying mobile cache and I don’t see a big difference in speed.
However, I was using 4 crawler, now 8 and so, it’s more work for the server.

I don’t know if I will have more ccss to generate? But, in fact, why ? Since the site is responsive.
Edit: yes, 240 ccss have to be generated. Why ? And for now, there are just identified with “webp”, not “mobile” or something else.
    End edit.

So, in my case, what is recommended? Drop the mobile cache or load the server a bit more to have a speed advantage on the frontend ?

    Thanks for any advices !
    Best regards

  • Just for your information, mobile cache is not a special cache that is especially made for mobile device. It’s just a seperate cache copy that is as powerfull as the cache for desktop devices. You need the Cache Mobile functions only if your theme has a device detection and serves different code depending on the device. Regardless of this CCSS is the only exception where you should enable Cache Mobile.

    Hi Serpentdriver,

Thanks a lot for your explanations.
Yes, in my case, I’ve got some elements which display only for desktop, so, thanks to your explanations and advices, from now, I’m going to use Mobile Cache.

The extra load on the crawler is not so important after all. It would be silly not to take advantage of this feature !

Thanks again and have a good day.
    Best regards

Mark this thread as resolved, thank you!
