Mobile caching question

I’ve had Super Cache set up for some time on three sites. Working just fine. But I just realized that it’s not caching for mobile, even though that option is set on. It says I need to use a movile plugin like WPTouch, for example:

How do I serve cached mobile pages to clients on small screens like phones and tablets?

You’ll have to use a separate mobile plugin to render a page formatted for those visitors. The following plugins have been tested but YMMV depending on mobile client.

I need help understanding something please. My site is already responsive and works nicely on mobile. What will installing a mobile plugin like WPTouch do to my site, considering I like how my site shows up on mobile already.

And why doesn’t Super Cache cache mobile even without me installing a mobile plugin (since I’m already responsive).
