    Hi there!

    I am using the Sela theme (which I love) and would like to keep it for the mobile version of my site, as well. However, it is having mobile compatibility problems. These just started. The site used to load fine on mobile devices. I downloaded a plugin that converted the site to twenty fourteen when viewed on mobiles and that works fine but I’d really like to keep it all Sela. Any suggestions?

    To be more specific: when using the Sela theme on phones the ‘menu’ tab doesn’t work. When viewed on iPads, the menu tab works fine but some pages are cut off before you reach the end of the content.

    Sela works fine on my test site on my phone and tablet. It may be a plugin conflict. I would suggest disabling all plugins and testing your site. If it works, then activate them one at a time to find out which one is causing the issue.

    Also, what customizations have you made, if any?

    It would be really helpful to be able to look at your site. Can we have a link to it please?

    Apologies for the delay in writing back.

    I don’t have any plugins so that’s not the issue. I installed my first one to counter this problem.

    No customizations made, that I know of. I’m pretty tech un-saavy.

    Site is: drmacdermott.com

    Right now it will come up with the twenty thirteen format on a mobile device. Let me know if you’d like me to disable that.

    Hi, yes, if you could disable that plugin so that I can see what Sela is doing on mobile, that would be very helpful, and many thanks for the link to the site.

    Mine isn’t working either. What plugin did you use to have it display a different template?

    Hi again!

    Plugin deactivated. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.

    The plugin I used, that seems to work, is Any Mobile Theme Switcher.

    Angela – could you please provide a link to your site so I can take a look directly? We’d like to get to the bottom of this issue. Thanks!

    dmacdermott, it looks like you’re using an older version of Sela (1.0). Could you please try downloading version 1.0.2. of Sela from here and installing it? https://www.ads-software.com/themes/sela/

    Let me know if that sorts out the issue.

    Okay, downloaded that.

    For the technologically-impaired, how do I install it once I have downloaded the updated Sela file?

    Thank you so much for your help.

    Do you know how to use FTP?

    Do you remember how you originally installed the theme? Your theme folder is called “sela-wpcom” (not “sela”) so do you recall downloading the files over at WordPress.com or did someone else install the theme for you originally?

    You could also try uninstalling your current version of Sela and then reinstalling the new one, via Appearance > Themes.

    I was able to have someone else install it for me.

    I tried opening the website on my phone and the same problem is still there.

    Help?

    Thanks for trying the reinstall.

    As you can see, the mobile menu works correctly on the theme demo here:

    https://wp-themes.com/sela/

    I suspect something else must be interfering on your site.

    I noticed that there are no bullets in between the menu icons on your site, whereas there are bullets between the menu items on the demo.

    Where did you make that change?

    Thread Starter dmacdermott

    (@dmacdermott)

    Hmmmm. I haven’t the foggiest clue how that happened. It certainly wasn’t something I did intentionally because I wouldn’t even know how to do it intentionally.

    What do you recommend from here? Should I just go back to the plugin that gave me a different theme that didn’t have the mobile compatibility problems?

    Thanks so much for your help so far.

    Hi there, I’ve edited the CSS on my Sela to change colours and there seems to be a slight problem in the mobile version where it’s still displaying the old colour, works fine on tablet, anyone got any suggestions?

    @fharris, you can add the following CSS to change the color of the menu toggle button background.

    button, input[type="button"], input[type="reset"], input[type="submit"], #infinite-handle span {
        background-color: #f25f70;
    }

    Edit the color code as desired.

    @dmacdermott, I’ve installed Sela on my test site and have no issues with the menu, so there is something within your WordPress installation causing issues. On sort of peculiarity on how it works is that once the menu is open, top level menu items that have a submenu have to be tapped twice to get to that page.

    Can you try temporarily activating Twenty Fifteen and see if the menu works in that theme for you? If not, it may be an issue with some of the WordPress files themselves (rather than a theme issue).

    Let us know what happens with Twenty Fifteen.
