Mobile functionality of menu items in twenty twelve child theme

    Good Day,
    I am confused about the functionality of top level menu items in twenty twelve. When I click on a top level menu item from either an iPhone or iPad on this development site….

    I get a drop down list of submenu items. I am NOT taken to the top level page unless I double click on that menu item.

    Under twenty twelve child theme when I single click on on a top level menu item from either an iPhone or iPad on this development site

    I am taken to the top level menu item page, with a transient and unclickable view of the submenus in the drop down menu below.

    Can someone tell me how to make the twenty twelve theme perform in a more mobile friendly fashion?

    I should probably clarify that the first site listed ….

    https://dev.avmi.net

    is NOT running the twenty twelve theme. Only the second site, with the confusing menu behavior on a mobile device …

    is running a child theme of twenty twelve.

    If anyone is following this, I moved to another theme to overcome my limitations on twenty twelve. Perhaps if/when I develop better coding skills, I can revisit the twenty twelve theme.
