• Hi, I’m currently using version 2.1.4 I’m having a problem with the theme constantly resetting itself to the small mobile format, when going to a link. This means that if somebody is referred to a page remotely, their first view of that page will be the mobile format. And when they click the full size button, the theme will reset the link to the home page, losing the link, which in some cases they won’t be able to find on the site very easily.

I would like to have the option of the mobile device but why does Weaver always reset to the mobile format, then out of the blue revert to mobile while I’m editing a new post after 4 or 5 updates?

  • First the last version is 2.1.12 so you should update.
The first time you open the site on mobile it will open in mobile mode as it has no way to know otherwise, and you would have to click full to view the desktop version.
Once you are in full mode, if you change pages with the menu it should stay in full mode.

I am unclear what you mean by “resting itself when going to a link” as well as “then out of the blue revert to mobile while I’m editing a new post after 4 or 5 updates? “.

You would have to elaborate with a more detailed scenario and a link to your site.

As for the fact that when you switch from mobile to full it goes to the home page, this is unfortunately the way it works I am afraid.

Now the full mode is really an old legacy feature and actually does not make more sense any more. No one wants to see the huge desktop view on mobile and scroll around to find stuff. You would be better switching to the responsive mobile mode instead of the Smart mobile mode and forget about the full view.

Its been updated. I thought it would warn me on the main desktop page if it got out of date. It looks like the update may have solved this. By reset I mean that whenever I was going to a page in my desktop browser to preview changes after editing it, the view would go to the tiny mobile view, which I don’t want. I’m routinely checking pages using remote links and they were always going to mobile, also a pain, or when the page is left open in my browser, it would do this the next day as well. Sorry, but I’m old school, been working with computers since the 60’s, and too old to look at those tiny screens without a magnifying glass.

If you see the mobile view on desktop when you are logged in, you must have activated the Mobile device simulator in the Mobile option page.
Deactivate that and it should fix the problem.
