The menu has sub-items for Services and About and on a mobile device these show with +/- to expand collapse the sub-menu. However, Services and About are pages in their right and are clickable on the desktop menu.

They are highlighted as links on the mobile menu but this only expands/collapses the sub-menu. How do I get a mobile device to go to the page?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello @alangrutter,

Please go to Appearance > Customize > Header > Mobile Menu, section Mobile Menu and let me know whether your dropdown target is set to Icon or Link.

I visited your website and your subitems open on the + sign, while the links function and lead to their respective pages. If you feel this would lead to a bad UX, I would suggest creating a separate mobile menu via Appearance > Menus, where the About section (for example) would be an item with a disabled link, and the “real” About page placed as a subitem.

In this case, do not forget to check the box under the menu to use it as a mobile menu and save changes, as well as to make sure that your main menu has this option unchecked.

Let me know if this was helpful.

    Best regards

    Marko,

Originally it was set to ‘link’ and I changed it to ‘icon’ when playing with the settings whilst trying to fix it. As per your testing, it does seem to have fixed the issue. I wasn’t sure though if this was the correct solution since ‘icon’ and ‘link’ are not very intuitive since I don’t have an icon.

Anyway, your answer seems to re-affirm the correct solution. I did notice though whilst fiddling that the mobile menu got centred somehow – I had to add a small piece of CSS to left-align it again.

    Thanks for your swift answer.
    Regards
    Alan
