    Hi, total novice here.

I have tried to understand the issue and fix it by reading the other posts on here but being a total novice I have to admit I don’t understand it.

This is the message I got:

    ISSUE DETECTED!

Mobile not detected simulating a mobile device.”

I don’t know where to start with the information on this Forum. All I have done is installed the plugin and created pages for mobile. I am not using the upgrade version of the plugin.

Talking to people who have visited the website, a minority of them seem to have the opposite problem to: ‘Mobile not detected simulating a mobile device.’, because when they visited the website from their desktop they were served the mobile version.

So my question is, how do I fix the “mobile not detected simulating a mobile device” issue? And is it the same issue as the mobile version being served on desktop for a few users? If it isn’t, how do I fix that issue?

    Many thanks

    Hi,

I suggest you read these posts:

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/how-it-works-49/

    https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/the-caching-plugin-if-any-must-distinguish-between-mobile-and-desktop/

The issue that you and other users report is caused by the cache that you have for your website. It may be the cache of your caching plugin, your server, or CDN.
The cache must be different for the mobile devices, in another case you have issues. The plugin itself has nothing to do with this issue. The warning is just telling you that you have this issue with the cache.

If you share the link to your website I can see what kind of cache you have for your website.

    Have a great day!

my question is, how do I fix the “mobile not detected simulating a mobile device” issue? I use WP-Optimize with –?“Generate separate files for mobile devices?” active. Some mobile devices see the site fine, others see bad site.

    Hi @thindpls,

when you see that message it means the cache doesn’t distinguish between mobile and desktop.

In your case, you may have an additional layer of cache given directly by your server, or a CDN. It may also be an issue with WP Optimize, but this is less probable.
You may also have a mu-plugin in wp-content/mu-plugins that also caches the pages, as endurance cache installed by some hostings like Hostgator, Bluehost… If you see a file called endurance page cache or something similar in wp-content/mu-plugins, delete it. You don’t need it if you have a real caching plugin like WP Optimize.

I suggest you ask your hosting provider if the server also caches the pages, and if so, ask to disable it if it can’t serve a different cache for mobile.
If you have a CDN, you should know it. If so, set your CDN in a way to serves a different cache for mobile.

In any case, this is not an issue caused by Specific Content For Mobile. The plugin only tries to warn you about the issue. How to solve the issue is not under the control of the plugin.

    I hope it helps.

    Have a great day!

    Jose
