I have amended the woo checkout page to make the user tick a box not only to agree to the website T&C’s and privacy policy but also to agree to additional T&C’s for the products we hire out. It all works fine when it goes through the full checkout process. However, if the customer chooses Apple or Google Pay they never reach that tickbox and payment is processed. Is there a way to make the customer tick a box agreeing to the Hire T&C’s even when using an express checkout does anyone know please?

  • Hey there, @doctorfunk! Thanks for contacting us.

I have amended the woo checkout page to make the user tick a box not only to agree to the website T&C’s and privacy policy but also to agree to additional T&C’s for the products we hire out.?

Do you mind sharing more information on how you changed that?

Did you use a different plugin? Or was it custom code?

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

Bit of a workaround, I amended the standard tickbox line in the theme customiser to also mention about the hire conditions. Using the Divi theme builder I then added a module underneath that section with links to those terms and conditions.

    Hi @doctorfunk,

    This is a great workaround.

By doing so, you have ensured that your customers are aware of the hire conditions and can easily access them. This can help prevent any misunderstandings or disputes in the future.

In that case, I believe we can go ahead and mark this thread as solved. Should you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to reach out to us.

Hi. Thank you. But my question related to when using mobile payments / express checkout. The customer never reaches this page, and therefore can’t tick the hire terms and conditions. How can I create a tick box when using this type of payment please?

    Hello doctorfunk,

    Thank you for the clarification.

The Express Checkout methods follow a different path than the standard method payment methods.
The customer is offered two paths, continue to the Checkout page or Pay with Apple/Google Pay.

The solution that you have implemented will only work when the customer proceeds to the Checkout page. It will not work with the Express Checkout method.

I suggest you look into the Product Disclaimer For WooCommerce extension.
It offers several ways to inform customers about disclaimers and get input from them.

Let me know if you have any questions.
I will be happy to help. ??

    Best regards.
