Mobile redirection not working on homepage

  • Hello,

    I have this great plugin on my wordpress, however the automatic mobile redirection doesn’t seem to work on my site despite the option being enabled in the advanced settings of the plugin.

    So, when browsing on a mobile device, I don’t get redirected to the AMP home page, but if I go on the rest of the website (for example on an article) I get to the AMP version of the article, and then if I decide to go back to the homepage via a link/menu, I get to the AMP homepage. It’s weird.

    So I decided to create a static custom AMP homepage but it still doesn’t work – I still first appear on the non-AMP homepage. Then if I continue browsing the site and then go back to the homepage, I get to an AMP page, but not the one I assigned to be the custom AMP homepage. It’s even weirder.

    My wordpress is hosted on WPEngine which has its own caching system, and I also use Cloudflare – that might be interesting because both of those systems have caching options.

    Can I please get help ? The mobile redirection just doesn’t seem to work only for the homepage. The rest of the site is well redirected in AMP.

  • This may or may not be your problem:

    If you are caching html then this may be the issue. You will need to be using one of Cloudflare’s paid plans to use html caching and still be able to not cache cookies.

    You can do static caching with the free plan on cloudflare but only if you are using AMP takeover. This is because you don’t generate pages with the wp admin bar attached and you can still use page rules to exclude normal wp-admin pages.

    Quickly try putting cloudflare into development mode. Does it still do it?

    I am having this same EXACT issue on AMPforWP 0.9.97.14 and WordPress 4.9.8

    I don’t have Cloudflare and just use a local cache plugin. But I deleted all cache, deactivated the plugin, and deleted it and still have the problem.

    Are you getting the issue in latest version 0.9.97.15 also?
    Can you check whether you have enabled the mobile redirection on the Homepage?
