• hey everyone,

I was wondering what the best practice would be when you optimize your site for mobile devices?

    * to create an entire new design optimized for mobile devices and redirect the traffic to that sub-domain?
    * to create a separate CSS sheet for so that the website layout changes when visited from a mobile device?

    or anything else??

Ideally I’d like to create a totally different design for the mobile site and put it under a subdomain but I am not sure if that is good for SEO, if it created duplicate content etc so I’d appreciate any feedback on this.

Also what is the best way to detect a mobile device so you can redirect that user to the mobile site?

    thanks a lot

  • Hi I use the Mobile Redirect (not Monile Re-Direct which is another plugin) and it works well at physically redirecting mobile users to the subdomain I’ve set up for mobile users.

However I’m still unsure of the SEO issues with this and the duplicate content as I’m also learning – if anyone has any opinions on m.mysite vs mysite.mobi I’m all ears!

The duplicate content is an issue I think as I have a mobile page now ranking #2 on the desktop google!

    Vritt
