moderation before publish.

Is there any easy solution to have all articles be submitted for review before being published? I’ve seen reference to older threads about this, but was wondering if any development has been done.
I’d like to set up wordpress in a school environment. Ideally, a student could ‘publish’ an article, but before it appears, the teacher would review, then allow publishing. I understand I could setup a teacher with a high enough level to view the drafts and publish those, but how would the teacher know which article the student wants to publish, and which article they wanted to continue working on?
Is there a wordpress plugin that would submit the article for review rather than directly publish?
