• I have been making some modifications to a theme i have. Now im a bit worried because i did not make a child theme at the begining.

Could i make a child theme now and keep the modifications i have made?

  • All of your current modifications will still be lost if you upgrade the parent theme.

I see, so its only if i update the theme? Not if i update wordpress?

Im a little new to this so im sorry if the question is a little noobish!

    Cheers for replying

That would depend upon which theme you have modified.

How do you mean? how could i find out if the theme i have modified would mess up if i updated wordpress in the near future?

You could start by telling us the name of the theme…

Ok its called Codium Extend 1.0.9 by Henri Labarre.

the site im working on is https://sanacionnatural.net

What if i was to make a complete copy of it by ftp,ing it to my pc and then when i update wordpress in the future if things get messy i could just copy back from my ftp?

That theme should not be touched when you upgrade WordPress. However, I would still suggest that you backup this custom version of the theme for safe keeping.
