Modify file and save in theme

hi I am wanting to remove the GBP / Year from the single listing page so we have / Year.
This comes from a function in wp-job-manager-template.php. I can modify this file to remove the currency however, if this gets updated by any updates it may get changed. I wanted to add the changes to theme folder, but this doesn’t work and I have to over ride the main file.
Can I change this and add to theme?

You do not need to make any code changes to remove the currency.
You can do this by heading to WP-admin > Job Manager > Settings > Job Listings. From there, scroll down to make sure the following is configured:
- Salary: Enable Job Salary – checked
- Salary Currency: Enable Job Salary Currency customization – NOT checked
- Default Salary Currency: leave empty
- Salary Unit: Enable Job Salary Unit Customization – NOT checked
- Default Salary Unit: Year
It should look like this:
Make sure to click “Save Changes” on the top right corner once you’ve configured this. Then, new jobs posted will have the following:
