I modified a template gallery from 3 to 6 columns, deleted what was there and dragged a number of images into elementor’s media page, then inserted into the page. I was able to move them to the order I wanted, change the background, add borders. But there is one image that shows type underneath making that row deeper. I went to the source and removed some type and now want to replace it in the gallery, but now I can’t seems to add anything or change the order. If I select a single thumbnail, it goes to the larger image. I keep looking for how I got this far, and am stuck again.

  • Hello,

If I understand your query correctly, you are using the gallery widget PRO:
    https://elementor.com/help/gallery-widget/
And you want to show the image caption below the image instead of being displayed on hover(overlay)? Please feel free to correct me if the above is not what you mean.

But if this is correct, I’m afraid at the moment, using the Gallery Widget (https://elementor.com/help/basic-gallery-widget/), the title or caption can only be displayed from the overlay. There is no option to display it below the image.

The widget you can use for this purpose is the Basic Gallery widget, which gives you an option to display the caption below the images, but this widget doesn’t have the responsive option to set the number of columns per device.

But I agree this is a good feature to have, so on my end, I have tagged this ticket as a feature request and made a note in our internal system so that this can be taken into consideration by our developers in future updates.

I understand how important this is for you, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. We are continuously working on extending the Elementor functionality and appreciate all the feature suggestions.

Please feel free to contact us if you need further.
    Best regards,

As this was 2 months ago, I can’t remember what page had this problem or exactly what it was. I know much more now and have made over a hundred galleries with different sizes and complexities. Captions can be displayed below the image and I do it, as further down in this gallery, when desired. Now I have been wanting to put a break in the caption so the Latin name with always be below the common, but have been unable to and so delete the common from the description before uploading.

I don’t know why this site makes it so hard to post a question. I left this and went around and around 10 menus, trying to find how to post anew and all I ever got was articles, and nowhere to post. I wanted to know about the Smush plugin to optimize images. I looked at what it says about stripping metadata, and I need to know if it strips the descriptions, as I use in many cases to identify the image. This is not part of the file name, but description and if it stripped that then hundreds of images with the species name would have none.

    Hello,

    Thank you for replying.
In order to be more specific and try to find the solution for you, are you using the Elementor Pro?
If so, please open a ticket by sending an email to [email protected]
And we will be glad to investigate.

I do have elementor pro, but am wary because in trying to solve a problem with a gallery that wouldn’t update I was given the following advice:

“In this case, please try adding the following directives to your .htaccess file to increase the dynamic timeout and see if it helps:

    <IfModule mod_dtimeout.c> <Files ~ “.php”> SetEnvIf Request_URI “admin-ajax.php” DynamicTimeout=150 </Files> </IfModule>

As instructed in this guide https://elementor.com/help/publish-update-button-not-work/

You should contact your hosting company to help you with this by adding the above line to your .htaccess file.”

So I got remote help showing where to put it. Later in the day I was told my site was down. I found that all my pages were gone, until another host tech told me to put #in front of the code to disable it, but now no pages are editable in Elementor, there seems to be 2 versions, http and https of everything.
I’m quite waryt and fearful of what further advice may do.
So I asked the smush question in the forum.
