Modifying posts_loop_template.php

Having modified posts_loop_template.php to show the entire content of posts, and having placed it in the child theme it works perfectly.

However I find I don’t need to specify template=’posts_loop_template.php’ in the shortcode as you instruct.
Is it only necessary if you change the name of the template?
