Monthly and Yearly Pricing
-
I am wanting to have a couple different pricing options for my membership site.
Membership Levels
Level 1 Free Limited Access
Level 2 Paid monthly recurring $7.95
Level 3 Paid yearly recurring $49.95 Save 52%1. My question is can you support the two different paid options. If so how will this work if a member decided to convert to a yearly membership to keep them from paying both. Is there a smooth way this is handled if I choose using Clickbank?
2. By offering the yearly recurring option could this be a problem with chargebacks as people can forget and if so am I charged any fees for this. Open for opinions here.
Thanks,

I am assuming this is not possible?
I have been back and forth on this forum and also looking at a couple of other membership products. Trying to finalize what way I am going to go soon.
The challenge I see with all the membership products out there is there are pros and cons with all of them things like depending on what payment processor you go with certain features work or do not work.
What really needs to be done IMO is each membership product should instead of providing a list of features should also provide an advanced grid of features showing what features work or do not work depending on the payment provider and type of payment form integration are used. This would probably save a lot of support questions.
The challenge I see is the average person does not know how to think through and ask the right kind of questions then find themselves down the road in a spot they didn’t want to be.
For example I want to build a site that is going to scale with thousands of members and not deal with support of every time a member wants to upgrade or cancel. Having built sites with 20K people a day I know first hand not thinking through this kind of stuff can be a major problem down the road.
I really hate asking so many questions but the reality is I have now spent over a week just trying to search and ask questions and understand what is and is not going to work based on a model I want to create. I have also tweaked and done some rethinking of this model based on what I have learned and tested here and other places as well.
There are some other what I feel much stronger easier to use products. But cost is way out there and scales as you grow and also do not seem to have Buddypress covered as well. S2member I think is at the top. But I am not convinced just yet until I finish some additional questions. Hope you all understand.
The problem with this question is that you specified a particular payment processor. That’s where the limitation lies. You can do this easily with PayPal or Stripe.
And, sorry, but creating a grid? Really? You mean each set of plugin developers will agree on the same grid, and the same feature set to compare, and then just fill in the grid?!! Get real!
That’s for someone else to do who has compared them. Even then, many others have done that and put their comparisons online, and yet most such comparisons are hopeless. Why? Because who knows what each reader values?
You want to make a business, and make money. That’s fine. As in any business venture, you need to do your research and make judgements about what suits you. And that is indeed what you have been doing. So don’t complain about it: that’s life. If you think a grid is so important, you are probably now in a position to create one for yourself — and even publish it for others.
In all honesty is it fair to sell features as if they are value. If the features do not work but on certain payment systems? This is exactly why I am asking these kind of questions don’t ya think?
What makes this plugin different then most WP plugins and I have over 15 years working online. I get it..! I actually get it more than most and I know first hand how major mistakes are made. But this plugin has the use of multiple payment processors like most membership products do.
https://membermouse.com/ your competitor however does a much better job at organizing documents to make the research process far more easier and better to understand.
While I get there is a FREE open source version and a paid upgrade version of your site. The reality is your slacking BIG TIME in the area of organization on the S2member site. Then transferring over to these horrible way behind times WP threads for all your support when you once had I am sure a much better forum product over on your site was a huge mistake in my opinion making it that much harder to conduct this kind of research.
Membermouse still does not offer grid like simple feature matrix based on payment provider chose as I am suggesting.
However, I totally get that would probably take all of 1 day’s work if you know your product to complete to make it easier for people trying to figure out these basic things. Then time could be spent better on chancing real support issues. But who cares about being proactive.
I also think I am seriously thinking of eliminating S2member from my list because your documentation is a flipping mess and I really do not like the response I just got. I have a history of building success online for many years. You can look me up Mr Gary Archer..!
I am simply making some simple constructive criticism because you probably do not like answering all these simple questions you probably don’t know the answers too.
What I am suggestion is not a joke its a simple matrix like you have with features letting person know what ones work and do not work with what payment providers.
I think a simple matrix also showing what providers provide easy member upgrade or down grade options is also not to much to ask for. Well unless you like asking forum based questions over and over and over again.
You have asked all these questions, received many replies from me, and apparently read a lot of stuff. And yet you still think I am part of s2member!!
I am a user of s2member, nothing more. I answer questions because others had the courtesy to answer mine. But, like them, I do so voluntarily. You seek to make money out of the answers, which is fine, yet also want to complain because I didn’t write a chart for you!!
Like everyone else building a website, I put in the time to work out what would work best for me. No developer can tell me that. They have no idea what I want to do.
If you think creating a matrix is easy, you should now be in a great place to do it for yourself.
That is the is another sad response that nobody from S2member even here to support and on top of that they pointed all their support including pai d version here. So here is my new Matrix I am going to provide as an alternative to this kind of community that I have been reviewing in my current pick order.

This plugin now eliminated from my selection…
Goodbye ??
That’s a matrix, is it? You haven’t even included the second and third best membership plugins!!
I assume you’ll be including file protection capability as one of your grid boxes.
Of course, they can all do it, can’t they?
Can’t they?
Oh, well, what one plugin means by file protection isn’t quite the same as what another means. The difference? Oh, thousands in lost revenue after the files are shared.
It’s a pity that a simple grid can’t explain that.
Here is another example of how membership plugin documentation should be handled. Don’t have hours and hours to spend on searching through a birds nest and tons of crap have a business to build.. Really don’t have time for this Bye…!

Yes, we don’t want to spend time actually understanding how things work, do we?
After all, we could be setting up a site where all our files will be shared!
Simple download and video plugins that work with Amazon S3 Vault. Many to choose from that you can add to any membership site. More control this way and many have options to block so they can only be downloaded or accessed from within the site. By the way if there is a working membership site that does not take 6 months to get set up this becomes a breeze now does it now..!
You are joking, aren’t you? Good luck!
No in fact I can tell you these practices are used by some of the very best TOP Marketers online today. If you been around and know tech like you say you do. You should even know. Amazon S3 is the most pure and secure way of flowing both video and vault for downloading files when configured with the right plugins.
But that’s file storage, not file protection. It’s like putting stuff in a warehouse. Great, unless someone else has the keys. Guarding those keys is file protection.
But then, as you said yourself, you “don’t have hours and hours to spend” on actually researching and understanding things.
You have got to be kidding me right? You know what the cloud is right? This is cloud based storage instead of storing on your server your storing on the cloud.
A. Its fast as hell compared to any regular server is going to be able to do. B. It streams video better.
C. Its better for disaster recovery.
E. Its actually more secure that a regular server when configured correctly.Ha, ha!
Who said there’s anything wrong with putting stuff in S3? Pretty much any membership plugin can do that. That’s basic file storage.
Can they all protect the keys?
As I said, good luck! You are going to need it!
We are clearly not even on the same page.
I only have one question for you? If you don’t work for S2Member then why are you wasting your time hanging out non stop in these threads.
I bet I know..! Its called lead gen. There product is so screwed up and not being maintained and why they passed it over to WP forums you sit here and help people that are rookies at this and hope to get a lead here and there.
Got news flass for you. If you know what your doing you go built a great membership site with thousands of paying members and not have to do this.
Oh wait that is right can’t get the freaking payment options to all work right and be able to attract massive swarms of affiliates helping promote the site…
Gotta go… !
