Still Buggy
-
This plugin is feature packed (especially the Pro version) for sure however it is also pretty complicated. The bugginess has reduced over time but still there. My latest issue required me to change settings in order to force the plugin to rebuild the JS files. I Shouldn’t have needed to do that. Support has dramatically improved.

Hi there
Thank you for getting in touch, sorry to hear you’ve had this experience with our software.
We take the utmost care to thoroughly test the entire plugin before any release, however I’m afraid due to the myriad of different WordPress, server, browser and plugin configurations, sometimes issues do arise.
Trevor has logged this issue on our fault tracker and we will be patching this as soon as possible.
You may need to zoom in on the map panel if your circle has a small radius. Have you checked that your circle radius is set large enough to be visible, or tried zooming in?
It sounds like your browser does not support the HTML input color picker, may I ask which browser you are using so we can look into adding a fallback?
Kind regards
– PerryThanks Perry. Totally get the difficulty of authoring plugins however in our role of publishing websites (including WordPress) for customers, we use hundreds of plugins. The issue with my experience with WP Google Maps is that most of the capabilities simply don’t work or if they do, they are extremely buggy:
– Color pickers don’t work
– Cannot add a square or circle to a map (I can only add a polygon). Nothing to do with zoom, I can create them and I see them in the list however they do not appear on my map
– Often the map markers do not delete/ fail to be able to be created. (at least managing them via php works)Browsers are Safari v12 and Chrome on Mac (current version). Both have the same issues. Rebooting doesn’t clear the problems.
It’s really disappointing because if these issues did work, it would really meet our needs. That’s why we purchased it.
Hi there
I’m very surprised to hear color pickers aren’t working for you in Chrome, what we’ll be doing tomorrow is adding a color picker fallback,
We’ll also be fully testing the circle and rectangle functionality and patching any issues there, thank you for making us aware of these.
With regards to markers not deleting, the mechanism there is a very straightforward AJAX request that simply sends off the markers ID to an AJAX endpoint, from there the marker is removed from the database.
If you’re finding that isn’t working for you, and you’d be happy for us to take a look into this for you, may I ask you to open a ticket enclosing either screenshots of your JS console, or login details, if permissible, and we can take care of that for you immediately. I’m one of the lead developers on this project – if you’re happy to open a ticket and you could mention my name in your ticket, the staff will put you straight through to myself.
Again, our humble apologies that you’ve had this experience with our software, I hope we can restore your confidence in the plugin.
Please let me know on the above?
Kind regards

Perry you are correct. The color picker is working in Chrome. All the other issues persist however in Chrome. Apologies. I didn’t do a thorough side-by-side test.
Yeah I’ve had all kinds of issues with markers not working through the GUI in Safari (can’t remember if I had issues with this in Chrome). I’ve had the database opened right next to the browser and re-query it each time. Sure enough the failures in the GUI are aligned to what shows up in the table. eg browser fails to remove a marker, it remains existing in the db table. If it fails to add the marker, it’s also not present in the table. In any case, this issue isn’t consistent. If I refresh the browser, suddenly they might start working again. Circles and rectangles are completely broken. They don’t work in any browser at any time.
As mentioned, I have opened tickets on all these issues. Most of the responses are that they’ll get the dev team to fix it.
So, … way too buggy.
Hi there
We’ve identified an issue where installations where $ is undefined on the map edit page – we haven’t been able to reproduce these circumstances so we missed this in testing, however we’ve identified the issue and patched our code.
You can confirm whether or not this is the issue you are suffering by attempting to work with marker editing, circles and rectangles, however I am quite certain this is the issue you are suffering so please don’t go out of your way.
I’m really sorry we missed this in testing but it appears to only affect a handful of installations. Your faults were logged, and I have personally fixed these issues this morning. I apologise that we there was a bit of a turnaround on this, I hope you appreciate that unless we can reproduce the issue, or see the issue in situ on sites affected, it’s hard for us to establish a fix. I’m sorry it’s taken so long to get this pinned down, we appreciate you taking the time to report this.
Seeing as though we’re at the end of the week and this isn’t a widespread issue, I don’t imagine we will release the patch until Monday – would you like a pre-release? If so can you please contact us through our support desk, either by opening a new ticket or messaging on an existing ticket and asking for myself by name, or if you can provide me a ticket reference for one of your existing tickets I’ll reach out to you there.
I hope that helps?
Kind regards
– PerryHi there
Just to update you, we have patched this issue, please apply the most recent updates in which this is solved.
Kind regards
– PerryPerry I updated the plugin to what WP said was needed. I tried to add a circle. No joy. Issues all remain exactly the same (for circles at least).
Can you please do a hard refresh (Ctrl + F5) or clear your cache for the site – The team, including myself personally, took extra care to test this feature following these reports, and I can confirm it is working at our end.
If you’re still experiencing issues after that, would you be kind enough to open a ticket to grant us access to the site, if permissible?
Kind regards
– PerryYes! It’s now working (although the color picker remains firmly broken in Safari however if I go to Chrome, the color picker works there. Now however a square is indicated associated with the map (although not visible on the map). I am unable to remove it in either Safari or Chrome.
Looks some way yet to go to fix all the issues.
Hi there
We were unable to reproduce this issue at our end.
I created a rectangle successfully, then went back to the map edit page, clicked the rectangles tab, and clicked the delete button. I then reloaded the page, and the rectangle is no longer in the rectangle table. I also note the rectangle is no longer in the database.
If you’re still experiencing issues, would you be kind enough to please open a ticket and share access to your map edit page with us so that we can work through this with you?
Kind regards
– PerryHi there
Would you still be open to allowing us to investigating this further?
We’re eager to get this fixed for you, if you are still willing to work with us on that?
Kind regards
– PerryHi Perry. This has taken extra time from me to work with you on this. I’m currently on business travel returning later this week. Let’s look at it then.
