More news link won’t show

    Hi,
    I’m using this excellent plugin on our swim site where we have different sections and each section has it’s own news flow. If there are few items in the flow (https://www.asf.ax/foreningen/) the “More posts” link is showing but in sections with lots of news its not (https://www.asf.ax/simsektionen/) ??
    I’d like to have it the other way around…
    I’ve the same settings in both sections, so I guess it’s a bug.
    A great feature would be to be able to option out the “More posts” link if there are fewer posts than is shown.

    Hi Kjell,

    Hmmm seems like some bug in the footer settings that will need to be fixed as it should be able to configure it as you wanted.

    Anyway, our plan is to release version 4.8 at about the same time wordpress will release its own 4.8 (should be about the start of june) and will make sure everything works well

    I’m using wp 4.8 and category posts widget plugin version is 4.7.2 and I have the same problem, the “More posts” link is not shown at all.

    What can I do to solve this?

    Can you try the newes code from here: https://github.com/tiptoppress/category-posts-widget/tree/4.8

    (Upload the Zip with the dashboard or copy the files to your plugin directory.)

    But please consider this is a nightly build and we do not promise it’s stable code. But we have already test this version.

    it works well at my site just by updating the plug-in.
    I notice a strange behavior though.
    When I use the short code and shows the news in a page there are no “More of this topic” if there are fewer items than I’ve set in the settings. But in the side bar widget the “More on this topic” is shown.

    For me the footer link works.

    Have you set a url or only a footer text?
    Have you set as category filter “any” or one specific category?

    A workaround can be to set the link in the content below the shortcode.

    Hi, sorry for being unclear.
    I don’t want the link when there are fewer items than specified.
    The link I provided has just one item and in the page (made by short code) there are no link as I want but in the right panel, through the widget, there are a link which I don’t want.
    Same settings in both cases, no footer text set. It’s a one-category-only news feed.

    First step, there is a option in the “General” panel > “Hide if there are no matching posts”.

    Second, to hide the footer text if less posts as in the Filter panel as number of posts is set is not an very clear option.
    – Category pages are different from our widget teaser style
    – The footer link is not even a link to the category page
    – We expect not less posts or the settings for the number of posts is to high

    Do not know if this option is more confusing as helpful?

    Is this provided option above not practical enough for you?
