I meant Giving WordPress Its Own Directory, i.e., installing WP in mysite.com/wordpress but having it launch from mysite.com. This has now been accomplished, but mysite.com/wordpress now generates a 404.

to start with, double checking your wp-config.php file settings for the database and host names?

Thanks. Yes. Everything works for mysite.com, but I get a 404 for mysite.com/wordpress, even though WP is installed there and was previously working. Database and host names have not changed.

    Try this possibility:

-access your WordPress database via phpMyAdmin and manually check, in the wp_options table, the siteurl and home values and make sure they are correct.

ALWAYS BACKUP YOUR DB BEFORE TOUCHING IT

Thanks again. I don’t think that’s it. I am not looking to move WP. The site works. I am looking to be able to access the same site from both mysite.com and mysite.com/wordpress. I have a feeling that it’s a simple setting someplace that I’m missing.
